Kathleen Simpson

Kathleen Simpson came to Clinton Louisiana and painting as a refugee from Katrina.  She rode out the storm in Lakeview at the apartment complex she managed and when the storm was over watched 15 feet of water rise in the street.  A stranger in a boat, the Coast Guard and a school bus carried her by stages from the devastation to a shelter in Ethel and she saw no need to return.  Clinton (elevation 412”) looked good and she was invited to join the local painting group.  Her father had been one of the Jackson Square artists in her childhood and she had been painting in her head all her life.  Now she paints exquisite impressionist landscapes of the Felicianas and portraits of people, pets, and places.
