Daniel Corona grew up in
Brownfields. After High School he joined the Army and served in Afganistan. Following his discharge
he struggled for years with the emotional effects of things seen and done and was essentially disabled; a not so visible casualty
of war. With help he has become a stable young man again, but one with a difference;
he feels compelled to paint. His abstract work with acrylics on glass is a stunning visual record of
chaos and order, movement and the moment, and light and dark.
A “natural” artist with no previous training beyond High School,
Daniel Corona makes pain visible. Working on glass he echoes the fragility
of the human spirit in inhuman circumstances.
Recently, Daniel's art was used as upstage projections for the ballet Fast at Texas Dance Theatre's Gala Performance.
The ballet was set to the music of Steve Reich and choreographed by Wil McKnight, who is the Artistic Director of Texas Dance
Theatre and Marquita McKnight's son.
